🔒 The post-quantum era is here!
As Ripple (
$XRP ) and Stellar (
$XLM ) lead the crypto defense.
The big fear in the blockchain industry has always been 'Q Day': the moment when quantum computers can break current cryptography and compromise millions of wallets. In the face of this threat, both Ripple and Stellar have taken the lead with definitive plans.
🛠️ Stellar (XLM): Migration without address change (2026-2027)
The Stellar Foundation has unveiled a three-phase roadmap to secure its network:
• 2026: Integration of post-quantum secure signatures in Soroban's smart contracts for corporate accounts.
• 2027: Native protocol update. All users will be able to add quantum-resistant signatures while keeping the same address, balance, and transaction history, eliminating the friction of a complex migration.
⚡️ Ripple (XRP): Total shielding by 2028.
Motivated by alerts from Google Quantum AI showing that quantum risks are advancing 20 times faster than expected, Ripple has rolled out a four-phase plan for the XRP Ledger (XRPL):
• Includes an immediate contingency plan for unforeseen events and testing with NIST algorithm standards.
• By 2028, a native amendment will be implemented globally. Thanks to the native key rotation capability of the XRPL, funds will be protected against future decryption attacks.
Conclusion: While massive networks like Bitcoin or Ethereum glance nervously at the quantum clock (with millions of BTC exposed in addresses with visible public keys), XRPL and Stellar position themselves at the forefront of institutional security.
Cryptographic agility will be the key factor for survival in the next decade.
