๐ Protect your crypto! The 3 most common P2P scams and how to avoid them.
P2P trading in
#Binance is a fantastic tool to trade in your local currency, but when dealing with people directly, keep your eyes open. Scammers donโt break the system; they try to manipulate you using urgency or deception.
Here are the 3 most frequent methods and how to dismantle them:
โ ๏ธ 1. Triangulated payment (Third-party accounts)
How it works: Youโre selling cryptocurrencies and the buyer transfers the money from a bank account that is NOT in their name (they say itโs from a family member or their business).
The danger: That money usually comes from another parallel scam. The real owner of the account will report the fraud, your bank will freeze your funds, and you will have already released the crypto.
Protection: The account holderโs name on the bank account must match EXACTLY the name verified on Binance. If it doesnโt match, donโt accept the payment and open a dispute.
โ ๏ธ 2. Fake receipt and psychological pressure
How it works: The buyer marks the order as "Paid" and sends you a screenshot of the bank through the chat. They pressure you by saying the "system is slow" or that they need your assets urgently.
The danger: The receipt is an edited image, and the money was never actually sent from their account.
Protection: Donโt trust screenshots or SMS. Open your bank app, refresh the balance, and verify that the money is available. Only then click "Payment received".
โ ๏ธ 3. Invitations to external chats
How it works: They ask for your WhatsApp or Telegram to "speed up" the transaction or resolve a supposed issue.
The danger: Once you leave the platform, you lose the escrow deposit support from Binance.
Protection: Keep all communication STRICTLY within the official order chat.
๐ก Golden tip: In P2P, the one whoโs in a rush is usually the one trying to trick you. Take your time and trade safely.
