There’s a stock to take a closer look at before the market opens—Nokia (NOK).
Today, its pre-market performance is clearly stronger than the broader market. When the overall market is weak but a particular stock goes against the trend and strengthens instead, I usually pay extra attention.
Also, Nokia just went through a round of sharp sell-off yesterday, with a single-day drop of more than 13%. From the earlier peak, it’s already fallen quite deeply—so here there’s first and foremost a very clear expectation for an oversold rebound.
But I’m not focusing on it only because it has fallen a lot.
Recently, Nokia has actually been showing a series of positive developments:
First, on September 21, Nokia will be re-included in the EURO STOXX 50 European blue-chip index. Theoretically, this could attract some index-related passive capital.
Second, Nokia is no longer just what people think of as “the phone-selling Nokia.” It’s moving toward directions like AI network infrastructure, data center networking, optical communications, 5G/6G, and edge computing.
Recently, it has continued to secure AI-ready fiber-optic network projects, launch an AI edge platform, and complete AI network infrastructure-related testing with Orange.
Even more noteworthy is that in the second quarter, sales of its AI & Cloud business grew more than 100% year-over-year.
So my thinking is very simple:
Oversold + concentrated positive catalysts + AI infrastructure logic + pre-market strength versus the broader market.
This doesn’t necessarily mean an immediate reversal. But if short-term capital starts doing oversold repair, it can easily become one of the first names that investors lock onto.
Today, I’ll focus on NOK.
In particular, I’ll watch whether it can continue to hold relative strength after the market opens. If the market is down but it doesn’t fall—or even turns positive first—then that signal becomes even more interesting.
⚠️Not blindly chasing. Oversold stocks can have very large swings—what matters most is whether the money is genuinely stepping in to absorb.
