Market News | Bitcoin Slides Below $81,000 as a Shock-Hot PPI Pushes Yields Down Instead of Up
Bitcoin has fallen below $81,000 to around $80,559, down more than 2% over 24 hours, after US producer prices came in far hotter than forecast. XRP, ether at $2,347.79 and solana slid further. What makes the session unusual is the reaction elsewhere: Treasury yields fell, gold rose and the dollar weakened — the opposite of what a hot inflation print normally produces. The Producer Price Print Ran Far Above ForecastSeptember headline PPI rose 1.3% month on month and 6.3% over the year, against the 5.3% annual rate economists expected and up from 5.6% in August.Core PPI, which excludes food and energy, came in at 0.7% monthly and 5.0% annually. Consensus for the monthly figure was 0.3%, so the measure designed to show whether an energy shock has spread into general prices printed at more than double its forecast.Retail sales rose 0.8% against 0.30% expected, though gasoline prices rose 7.3% over the month and lift that total mechanically through the service station category.Yields Fell on Hot Inflation, Which Is the Whole StoryThe 10-year Treasury yield dropped eight basis points to 5.08%, extending a pullback from a recent peak of 5.36%. Gold rose about 1% to roughly $4,155. The Dollar Index slipped 0.3% to 102.22.If markets were pricing tighter policy, yields and the dollar would be rising. Both fell. That configuration prices a growth problem, not a rate problem — the market is treating hotter input costs as something that will squeeze activity rather than something the Fed will chase.“It feels more like a stagflationary environment where risk assets and the US dollar generally underperform, while gold outperforms,” InvestingLive analyst Giuseppe Dellamotta wrote in a market update. The data released since has fit that description more closely, not less.Growth-Sensitive Assets Are Carrying the DamageCopper futures fell nearly 1%, extending Wednesday’s 1.6% decline. Copper is among the cleanest market proxies for global industrial activity, and it is falling alongside crypto rather than alongside gold.Nasdaq index futures are lower. Asian equities were dragged down by a rout in Korean chipmakers, where the KOSPI closed 7.57% lower and triggered a circuit breaker. Risk-sensitive currency pairs including Australian dollar-Swiss franc are down.Bitcoin’s decline sits inside that group. The pattern across copper, equities, risk currencies and crypto points to a single driver rather than anything specific to digital assets.Rate-Hike Fears Were Already Fading Before the PrintCME fed funds futures priced only a 29% chance of a move into the 4.00%–4.25% range this month, with the balance on no change from 3.75%–4.00%. Odds had briefly approached 50% after Wednesday’s CPI before scaling back sharply. That 29% reading predates the producer price release. The direction of travel through the week has been away from a hike even as the inflation data has come in progressively hotter, which reinforces the growth-fear reading rather than contradicting it.The next decision is due October 28.The AI Unwind Is the Variable to WatchThe Korean selloff is the most visible expression of an unwinding AI infrastructure trade. CoreWeave fell about 16% on Wednesday with one of its bonds trading near 80 cents on the dollar at roughly a 15% yield, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index has fallen six straight sessions.Higher yields had been the mechanism threatening the cheap financing behind data centre buildouts. Yields falling now does not resolve that, because the repricing is happening in credit spreads rather than in the benchmark rate.Analysts at 10x Research still prefer holding bitcoin while the unwind plays out, but only while BTC holds above $78,000 — about 3.2% below current levels. They also prefer using ether as a hedge against bitcoin long positions, consistent with ether’s heavier losses through this move. What Would Change the PictureBitcoin has tested the $80,000 area repeatedly this week without breaking it, and it is now pressing that level for a third time with a hot producer print behind it rather than ahead of it.Two things matter from here. Whether $80,000 holds, which decides the near-term range and the 10x Research position. And whether AI credit spreads keep widening, since that is the force now setting the direction across copper, chips and crypto alike — more than anything the Fed does on October 28.
📊 CRYPTO'S NEXT MOVE MAY DEPEND ON MORE THAN CRYPTO ITSELF. Why are Bitcoin and altcoins facing selling pressure? 1. US CPI: September's annual US inflation rate rose to 3.7%, above the 3.6% forecast. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, reached 2.6%. Persistent inflation could make it harder for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates. Markets are now reassessing the possibility of further monetary tightening. 2. Interest Rates Change the Investment Landscape Higher interest rates can increase the appeal of interest-bearing assets relative to riskier investments. They can also raise borrowing costs and put pressure on asset valuations. This may reduce demand for crypto, although the actual effect depends on investor expectations and broader financial conditions. 3. Leverage Can Amplify Price Movements When leveraged traders' positions move against them, exchanges may automatically close those positions. These liquidations can generate additional buying or selling and amplify short-term price movements. They can intensify a market move, but they don't necessarily explain what started it. 4. Why Bitcoin and Altcoins May React Differently Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other altcoins don't respond identically to macroeconomic news. Their performance also depends on liquidity, market positioning, fund flows, trading activity, and project-specific developments. Altcoins with thinner liquidity may experience larger price swings. 🧠 THE KEY TAKEAWAY The economic chain is straightforward: Inflation data → Interest-rate expectations → Financial conditions → Investor demand → Potential impact on crypto prices. 🔎 WHAT DESERVES ATTENTION NEXT? • Upcoming inflation and employment data • Federal Reserve communications • Bitcoin ETF flows and trading volume • Leverage and liquidation activity #Crypto #Bitcoin #Ethereum #Macroeconomics #MarketAnalysis

2. Interest Rates Change the Investment Landscape

Higher interest rates can increase the appeal of interest-bearing assets relative to riskier investments.

They can also raise borrowing costs and put pressure on asset valuations. This may reduce demand for crypto, although the actual effect depends on investor expectations and broader financial conditions.

3. Leverage Can Amplify Price Movements

When leveraged traders' positions move against them, exchanges may automatically close those positions.

These liquidations can generate additional buying or selling and amplify short-term price movements. They can intensify a market move, but they don't necessarily explain what started it.

4. Why Bitcoin and Altcoins May React Differently

Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other altcoins don't respond identically to macroeconomic news.

Their performance also depends on liquidity, market positioning, fund flows, trading activity, and project-specific developments. Altcoins with thinner liquidity may experience larger price swings.

🧠 THE KEY TAKEAWAY

The economic chain is straightforward:

Inflation data → Interest-rate expectations → Financial conditions → Investor demand → Potential impact on crypto prices.

🔎 WHAT DESERVES ATTENTION NEXT? • Upcoming inflation and employment data
• Federal Reserve communications
• Bitcoin ETF flows and trading volume
• Leverage and liquidation activity

🚨 Crypto Market: A Bounce Doesn't Mean Recovery Bitcoin is trading around $83K–$84K after recently falling below $81K. But there is one important concern: prices are recovering while institutional money has recently been leaving crypto ETFs. 🌍 What's driving the market? • 🇺🇸 US inflation data could change expectations for the Federal Reserve's next move. • 🛢️ Oil near $106 a barrel is raising concerns about inflation. • 💰 Recent ETF outflows suggest institutional demand remains uncertain. 🧠 My analysis: The next move depends on whether buyers return in strength. If inflation stays high, interest rates may remain elevated, putting pressure on risky assets. If inflation cools and money flows back into ETFs, crypto could find stronger support. Remember: a price bounce is a signal, not proof of a new bull run. 👇 Is this the start of a recovery, or just a temporary bounce? #Bitcoin #Crypto #Ethereum #MarketAnalysis

🚨 Crypto Market: The Real Signal Is Hidden in the Selling Bitcoin is holding near $83K, but the market is sending mixed signals. 📉 U.S. spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have seen continued outflows, showing that institutional demand remains under pressure. Meanwhile, easing Treasury yields could provide some relief to risk assets. 🌍 The next big trigger? U.S. inflation data. It could influence expectations for interest rates, the dollar, and crypto prices. 🧠 My take: Don't judge the market by price alone. Watch where the money is flowing. A real recovery needs stronger demand, not just a temporary bounce. What do you think: Is this a buying opportunity or a warning sign? 👇 #Crypto #Bitcoin #Ethereum #BTC #MarketAnalysis

📊 Crypto markets are starting the week higher, with Bitcoin around $86K and Ethereum near $2.6K–$2.7K. The key catalyst is macro: weaker-than-expected U.S. jobs data has sharply reduced expectations of another Fed rate hike this month, improving risk sentiment. Institutional demand also remains constructive — U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded about $2.65B of net inflows in September, while October began with further inflows. Meanwhile, high Treasury yields, a stronger dollar, geopolitical tensions and concerns around global fiscal stability remain risks for risk assets. Bottom line: BTC’s recovery is encouraging, but the next move will likely depend on liquidity, ETF flows and the Fed’s rate outlook. Volatility remains high. 📈 Market commentary only — not financial advice. #FedOctoberRateHikeOddsFallTo17% #cryptooinsigts

Users who participate can learn about the topic through selected articles and compete for a share of rewards. Binance said the game is designed as an educational word-guessing activity that helps users expand crypto vocabulary while following market developments. Eligible users may play up to two WOTD games per day, and those who answer at least five questions correctly during the activity period can qualify for rewards. A 3,000 USDC pool will be shared among users based on their proportion of correct answers, while a separate 7,000 USDC pool is available for users who also complete a cumulative trading volume of $50 equivalent in non-zero fee trades across Spot, Convert, TradFi, bStocks, or Futures. The maximum reward per user is 5 USDC, and all rewards are scheduled to be distributed by 2026-10-25 23:59 (UTC) directly to the user’s Rewards Hub.

These new users will receive 10% off Spot trading fees, and they may also qualify for additional welcome rewards by completing tasks in the Rewards Hub within 14 days after registration. Binance said the promotion is subject to eligibility requirements, and the WOTD game may not be available in certain countries or regions. The announcement also noted that only eligible users who complete account verification can participate and receive rewards.

UK Set to Impose Tariffs on Chinese EV Imports, Times Says
The UK is preparing to impose levies on imports of Chinese electric vehicles, meeting a key demand from the European Union, according to Bloomberg reported the Times of London on Sunday.
📊 Crypto markets are starting the week with mixed but relatively steady momentum. Bitcoin remains the market leader, while Ethereum and major altcoins continue to trade selectively. Bitcoin dominance is still elevated, suggesting that capital remains concentrated in major assets rather than rotating broadly into altcoins. Key factors to watch this week: • BTC support and resistance levels • ETF and institutional flows • Global liquidity conditions • Interest-rate expectations • Strength or weakness in the broader altcoin market Bottom line: The recovery remains encouraging, but volatility is still high. A sustained breakout above key resistance could strengthen the bullish trend, while a loss of major support could lead to another pullback. 📈 Market commentary only — not financial advice.

Bitcoin has pulled back from the $85,000 level and is now trading around $83,000–$83,200.

If Bitcoin continues lower and moves back toward $81,000, that would not be a great sign.

If Bitcoin manages to break through $85,000 again, the next levels I would watch are around $87,000–$88,000.

What makes this correction interesting is that there haven't really been any major or specific negative news behind the move.

For now, I don't want to get too involved in futures, especially while the market is in a phase where there isn't much clear direction. If I start accumulating spot, the coins I'll be watching are mainly $ETH , $SOL and $NEAR .
