➡️ U.S. Representative Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) stated that major cryptocurrency legislation is likely to pass in the closing stages of the congressional session at the end of the year. Emmer emphasized that despite Democrats' support for crypto measures, the Senate still needs to do important work.
➡️ Emmer said crypto legislation faces serious hurdles in the Senate, and he expects the House-approved Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act (FIT21) to become law through rapid negotiations during the “lame duck” session. He stated that FIT21, which found support in the Parliament, is currently waiting to be evaluated in the Senate.
➡️ FIT21 received the support of 71 Democrats despite opposition from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Emmer noted that there is “a ton of goodwill under the surface” for crypto issues and that he has lost the support of SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, but stressed the need for caution.
