Unanimous call from 100 economists: Fed to resume rate hikes in December, stand pat in October | Sticky inflation and a resilient economy leave monetary policy in a bind
The latest Reuters poll of economists shows a major shift in expectations for Fed rates: expectations of a hike in October have cooled, while another hike in December is now the unanimous view among all economists surveyed. The core tension is a resilient economy coupled with stubborn inflation, leaving monetary policy in a difficult position.
In the October 16–20 poll, 94 economists expected the FOMC to leave the federal funds rate unchanged at 3.75%–4.00% at its October 27–28 meeting, in line with market pricing. By contrast, fewer than half had expected a December hike in last month’s poll; this time, all 100 respondents forecast another hike in December. The Fed had already raised rates by 25 basis points in September. Chair Kevin Warsh has stuck to avoiding forward guidance, and policy remains cautious.
May the market winds favor your moves: hold steady through downturns and take profits without greed when prices rise. Stay grounded and don’t let FOMO sweep you along; choose your coins rationally and steer clear of projects that could go to zero. Protect your capital first. Let every gain and loss strengthen your judgment, and patiently await the next turn of the cycle—building steadily before breaking through. May every position you take bear fruit, your bull run be smooth, each step bring good fortune, and prosperity and happiness be yours for the long haul!

Large institutions have allocations in their portfolios to bonds, stocks, and other assets. If they increase their bond allocation to overweight, they inevitably have to sell some of their other holdings. Most of what they sell may well be stocks!
