The regulator (led by Gary Gensler) launched an investigation into Ondo Finance in October 2023.

The project was being investigated for compliance with US securities laws during the tokenization of assets. The ONDO token was intended to be classified as a security.

At the end of November, Ondo Finance received official notification of the conclusion of its two-year SEC investigation.
