$129 million! Can this financing round by HIVE subsidiary BUZZ Alpha Cloud turn miners’ AI dreams into reality?
According to ChainCatcher, BUZZ has signed a three-year, fixed-rate credit agreement with lenders at an annual interest rate of 9% and a loan-to-value ratio of about 80%. The funds will be used to buy 2,303 NVIDIA GB200 GPUs, valued at $165 million. Think about it: 2,303 GPUs alone could bring AI training and mining operations together. Combined with Cohere’s three-year sovereign AI contract, the outlook is about more than just watching from the sidelines—it could deliver real returns.
Over the past hour, total liquidations across the market reached $129 million, including $110 million in short liquidations. Bitcoin is currently at $80,320, up 2.4% over 24 hours, with a funding rate of 0.0092%, a long/short ratio of 1.15, and open interest down 3.08% over the past hour. Prices are up while open interest is down, suggesting shorts are covering and long positioning is relatively concentrated. The Fear and Greed Index is 34, and the DVOL volatility index is 39.45. Overall sentiment is subdued, while volatility remains moderate.
The fit between the financing and GPU purchases makes HIVE’s capacity to expand clear. Demand for technologies at the intersection of AI and mining continues to heat up. If the GPUs can be put to work alongside mining operations, improved efficiency could bring in more revenue. On the other hand, the long/short ratio is only 1.15 and open interest is down 3.08%, suggesting that long positions have not expanded significantly and overall bullish momentum remains limited. Short covering is a near-term positive, but whether the company can continue to expand over the long term remains uncertain.
I’m more inclined to watch and see whether this $129 million can truly deliver a win-win for mining and AI. What do you think?
