If Bitcoin were an Argentine icon, it would undoubtedly be Astor Piazzolla. 🇦🇷₿ Here’s why: Misunderstood at first: tango purists told Piazzolla that his music «wasn’t real tango», just as traditional bankers told the world that Bitcoin «wasn’t real money». Avant-garde and groundbreaking: he broke with established structures to create a completely new and revolutionary language, untethered from old rules and far ahead of its time. Global impact: he held onto his vision despite all the criticism, and today he is an icon known around the world. Bitcoin didn’t come to follow the rules of the past; it came to compose the financial future. Pure avant-garde! 🎶 #BinanceSquareFamily #Binanceargentina #BTC

It's impossible to think of a famous Argentine without thinking of football, and for this one I had to think big, as I should, given what it represents. I admit I had considered and chosen Messi because of his story and greatness, but after developing the idea, I concluded that he's too consistent, institutional, and clean to be BTC. So Bitcoin is none other than Diego Armando Maradona. It is him because of his genius, imperfection, volatility, and popularity—and because, despite many attempts to bring him down, he is still alive.
El Diego, like Bitcoin, came from humble beginnings; they broke the rules of football and finance, respectively. One was born in a shantytown, with an incomprehensible talent that prevailed in a professional world not designed for someone like him. The other was born anonymously in the wake of a global financial disaster and invented something that was hard to understand at the time, something that burst into a traditional system.
El Pelusa changed the narrative of what a player of his era could be, becoming a popular myth, a global symbol that Argentines use to explain genius and disaster side by side. Bitcoin did exactly the same: it changed the traditional financial narrative by showing that money can exist without intermediaries or central banks. It changed the way people think about value, sovereignty, and trust.
Both went through roller-coasters of controversy and overcame scandals and public falls. Every time they were written off as "finished," they came back stronger.
Bitcoin is El Diego. Time passes, and it still stirs up intense emotions and divided opinions. It is respected, questioned, and hated all at once—and none of that stops Bitcoin from being Bitcoin or Maradona (despite no longer being among the living) from being Maradona.
