I’m watching $ZEC for now. Leverage is pulling out, but the price hasn’t collapsed along with it.
The price fell just 1.55% over 6 hours, while open interest in 6-hour contracts dropped 5.86% over the same period. Open interest fell much harder than the price, which looks more like leverage actively exiting than new shorts driving the market down.
Meanwhile, the large traders’ long-short ratio rose from 1.20 24 hours ago to 1.43 now. Large traders are adding longs, but the price hasn’t reacted yet. I see this as just a test—not enough to call a direction.
Once the leverage has been cleared out, the next move will be easier to read. $ZEC I’ll only switch from watching to leaning bullish if it gets back above 1,333. If it loses 1,213 first, the bullish scenario is off the table, and I’ll turn bearish.
Do you think the large traders’ latest long buildup can hold until the next funding settlement—yes or no?
Retail traders are pulling back while whales are adding, so I’m bullish on $XRP .
Over the past 24 hours, the long/short account ratio across all traders fell from 2.56 to 2.52. Over the same period, the long/short position ratio among whales rose from 2.00 to 2.23.
There are fewer people going long, but the weight of long positions is increasing. This isn’t the kind of crowded trade driven by retail piling in. My read is that whales are picking up the long positions retail traders are giving up.
The price is up 3.39% over 24 hours, while the funding rate remains at its baseline—bulls aren’t paying a premium to chase the rally. Trader counts can be misleading; positions are more honest. That’s why I’m bullish.
The level I’m watching: $XRP needs to hold above 1.34 for the bullish scenario to move into its next phase. If it falls back below 1.28, it means the whales’ latest round of adding longs didn’t hold up, and my bullish view is invalidated.
Will $XRP hit 1.34 or 1.28 first—which side are you betting on?
I'm bullish on $HOT . More people are taking the other side during this rally.
The price is up 20.44% over 24 hours, while open interest in 24-hour futures is up 42.75% over the same period. Open interest is rising faster than the price, which means leverage is driving this move—not pure spot buying.
The key question is who's adding positions. The long/short ratio by account count has fallen from 1.69 24 hours ago to 1.28 now. The next estimated funding rate is -0.0380%, meaning shorts are paying longs.
My read is that a significant share of the new positions are shorts, likely traders trying to call a top against the trend. If the price doesn't turn back, those shorts become fuel for a move higher.
My plan: if $HOT closes above 0.000596, I think short covering will push the price higher for another leg. If it falls below 0.000433, my bullish thesis is invalidated—I was wrong.
Will shorts keep adding positions from here? Do you think yes or no?
The options market’s insurance premium hasn’t finished falling, but the price has already started moving down. I’m bearish on $ETH .
Deribit’s DVOL is now 50.36, while the latest one-hour realized volatility is just 43.73. Implied volatility is 6.63 points higher than realized volatility, which looks like someone is paying in advance for a big move.
But DVOL is down 2.41 points today compared with yesterday’s close, so insurance is getting cheaper, not more expensive. Over the same period, the price has fallen 17.23% over 30 days, while the current share of long accounts in the futures market is 72.3%.
My take: the trend has been consistently downward, yet the crowd is still piled into longs. The options premium looks more like it’s anticipating a high-volume move down than betting on a reversal.
My plan: if $ETH breaks below 2,237 convincingly, I expect this leg of the move down to continue. If it rebounds and holds above 2,305, I’ll admit I’m wrong, and this bearish thesis is invalidated.
At this time tomorrow, will DVOL be above or below 50.36?
The more it falls, the more leverage gets added. I’m bearish on $NEAR .
The price fell 3.58% over 6 hours, while open interest in the same 6-hour contract rose 2.97%. Price down, positions up—that doesn’t look like leverage exiting. It looks more like someone is adding to their positions.
The top traders’ long/short ratio rose from 2.06 24 hours ago to 2.22 now. I think a lot of these new positions are longs, probably trying to buy the dip. If they’re right, it’s a reversal. If they’re wrong, they’ll fuel the next leg down.
My plan: if $NEAR falls below 4.08, I think these newly added longs will be forced to exit, and the bearish scenario will continue to play out. If the price gets back above 4.43, this bearish view is invalidated, and I’ll have been wrong.
Over the next 6 hours, do you think open interest will keep rising or start falling?
A whale is moving coins off an exchange. I’m slightly bullish on $COMP , but only by a little.
According to ChainCatcher, Arkham detected a whale wallet address that withdrew a total of 44,144 COMP from Bybit, worth nearly $900,000. The address registered an ENS domain and may be linked to a crypto fund, but its ownership has not been officially confirmed.
The derivatives market is moving in the same direction: the price rose 2.37% over 24 hours, and open interest increased 2.96% over six hours. The contradiction is among large traders: their long/short position ratio fell from 1.32 to 1.24 over 24 hours, while the long/short account ratio across all traders is rising. My read is that retail traders are chasing the news first, while large traders haven’t shown their hand yet—the news is ahead of the positioning.
If $COMP closes above 20.94, I think that’s when the bulls will truly have room to run. If it breaks below 20.22, I’ll admit my bullish take on this withdrawal was wrong, and the thesis is invalidated.
At this time tomorrow, will the large-trader long/short position ratio be above or below 1.24?
I’m watching $XRP for now. Longs are packed in, but the price couldn’t care less.
At the moment, 73.0% of accounts are long, so sentiment is almost entirely one-sided. Even more unusual is the whale activity: the position long/short ratio has risen from 2.29 24 hours ago to 2.56. Whales are still adding to their longs.
But the price isn’t buying it: it’s down 16.58% over 30 days, and futures open interest fell 3.40% over the past 24 hours. Money is flowing out, but the longs haven’t cleared out. My read is that whales may be taking positions off retail traders’ hands, and the market hasn’t picked a direction yet.
Crowding itself isn’t a signal. What matters is who blinks first once the trade gets crowded.
My plan: I’ll turn bullish only if $XRP closes above 1.26; if it instead breaks below 1.23, I’ll switch to the short side, and this wait-and-see view is off the table.
The whales are adding to their longs this time around. Do you think they’re buying the dip, or providing an exit for retail traders?
Prices are rising, shorts are still paying, and I'm leaning long on $LSK .
It’s up 18.75% in 24 hours, yet the estimated funding rate for the next period is -0.3667%. Settlements happen every 4 hours, which means shorts have to pay longs every few hours.
Over the same 24-hour window, the notional value of open contracts increased by 48.10%. My read is that a lot of the added positions are countertrend shorts. The higher the price goes, the more it costs to hold those shorts, which looks more like fuel for the rally.
Putting it more bluntly: shorts are paying but still refusing to leave. This kind of standoff usually doesn’t last long.
If $LSK breaks above 0.2236, I think the bullish scenario has another leg to run. If it falls below 0.1674, I was wrong, and this bullish view is invalidated.
At the next settlement, do you think the funding rate will turn more negative or flip positive?
The more people pile into longs, the lower the price goes. I'm bearish on $XRP .
The overall long/short account ratio is now 3.08, up from 2.79 24 hours ago. Long accounts currently make up 75.5%—the vast majority are waiting for a rally. Yet over that same 24-hour period, the price fell 3.04%.
The large traders' long/short position ratio is now 2.23, considerably lower than the account ratio. More traders are rushing to the long side, but large traders haven't followed nearly as closely. I think this looks more like retail traders trying to catch a falling knife than big money building positions. The more crowded side is often the side with the most stop-loss orders.
If $XRP breaks below 1.29 decisively, I think these crowded longs will become fuel for the next leg down. On the other hand, if the price gets back above 1.34, I'll admit I was wrong, and this bearish thesis is invalidated.
Do you think these longs will see a bounce first, or get liquidated first?
