Solana gets a new heart tonight, and 20% of validators aren't ready Alpenglow activates tonight at around 21:20 Beijing time, at the start of epoch 1064, switching at slot 459,653,000 Finality drops from 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds—roughly 85 times faster It's replacing TowerBFT, which has been used since genesis. Votes will no longer be recorded on-chain The testnet has already recorded a median finality time of 54 milliseconds But according to the 10/20 data, validators representing about 20.3% of staked SOL are still marked "not ready" Those that aren't ready can only watch from the sidelines—they won't get block rewards or take part in consensus One detail is sure to be misread tonight: votes will no longer take up blockspace, so reported TPS could drop by about 60% That doesn't mean the network has slowed down. About 75% of what's currently on-chain is votes SOL was around $106.5 on Binance spot this morning, up about 1.5% over 24 hours and down about 10% over the past month After 18 months of work, tonight is the moment of truth The classic upgrade-day scenario is always nodes going offline Whether the chain stays stable tonight is more worth watching than whether SOL goes up #Solana升级 $SOL Just my personal opinion; this is not investment advice
Citigroup today called Aave “a vehicle for a tens-of-trillions-of-dollars business” $AAVE Today: about $147.65, down around 1.6% The report surfaced on October 20; Aave’s official account had already reposted it on X on October 19 Citigroup’s exact words were “a decentralized ecosystem for collateral flows” The core idea: use tokenized Treasuries and money market funds as collateral to borrow stablecoins without having to sell the assets Aave V4, the institutional RWA platform Horizon, and the GHO stablecoin make up the trio Just a week ago, S&P published an in-depth assessment of Aave. Now Wall Street is studying it as a group But note: the report mentioned no investment, no partnership, and gave no price target Banks are looking at the business, not the token price After all the hype, the price is still hovering around $147 Which side are you on: the banks’ narrative or the market’s valuation? BlackRock has put Bitcoin in a padded coat But the price still has a cold
Filed with the SEC on October 19 Its third Bitcoin ETF, ticker PBIT Full name: iShares Bitcoin Managed Protection ETF
The strategy in one sentence It doesn’t buy coins directly; it uses options tied to its own IBIT Three options strategies rotate, switching to a new one each month Each one caps losses at 10% (before fees)
Don’t expect to capture all the upside But there’s some cushion on the way down That’s what a buffer ETF is called. Calamos and First Trust have been selling them for years
What’s interesting is BlackRock’s preference It now has two Bitcoin ETFs and two Ethereum ETFs IBIT alone manages over $65 billion (10-20 data) The crypto ETF market as a whole reached about $80 billion in Q3
Nate Geraci’s comment stung a bit "BlackRock is clearly betting only on BTC and ETH" Spot ETFs for SOL, XRP, and HYPE Haven’t even shown up on the radar
On the day the filing was submitted BTC was hovering around $81,700 (10-20, Finnhub; about -1% over 24h) 24h high: $83,075; low: $81,103 Yesterday, IBIT saw $665 million in net inflows in a single day The money is back, but the price isn’t So BlackRock has gone ahead and put its new product in a padded coat
Whether buffer ETFs sell well Won’t be decided in a bull market, but in the next big downturn

CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost published a report on October 19 Since Bitcoin's peak last October Cumulative selling pressure in Binance's Meme sector has exceeded $1.4 billion Meme coins' share of the total altcoin market cap has fallen below 3%, a cycle low Over the past week, BONK and FLOKI are down more than 15% MemeCore is down 19%, while DOGE and SHIB are down around 9% DOGE is $0.079 today (October 20 data) These shitcoins are always the first to soar and the first to get wiped out when the market falls In Darkfost's own words: every correction, they're always the ones that lose the most Those shitcoins you're holding still sitting there, or did you cut your losses long ago?

European banks have finally started selling crypto—and the way they’re doing it is a little absurd
Germany’s largest banking group, Sparkassen, with 339 branches, has started selling crypto through its app, according to news from October 20 DekaBank sets the prices, DekaBank holds the keys, and DekaBank decides where the coins can go
But out of 339 branches, only 5 have actually rolled it out The other 334 are still watching
A fee of €0.99 per transaction Sounds cheap, but they don’t tell you the spread upfront
Withdrawals are the most ridiculous part You can only withdraw to 4 designated custodians Your own wallet? Forget about it
They’ve been talking for years about “traditional finance entering the game” Well, it’s entered But the coins still belong to the bank, and the keys are still the bank’s
“Not your keys, not your coins” The bank hasn’t listened to a single word of that old saying
This isn’t selling crypto It’s just another investment button in a banking app

A public blockchain is about to turn off its own money printer. Today, the Osmosis community voted on-chain. The proposal says just one thing: no more daily OSMO issuance. Where will staking rewards come from? They’ll be paid entirely from protocol fees. People holding the token won’t be diluted anymore. From now on, it’ll have to live on real trading volume. They also froze the developers’ allocation. About 51.9 million OSMO have been locked directly into a module account. To release them in the future, a separate vote will be required. Issuance is stopping, but burning isn’t. The chain is still burning about 2% of its supply each year. Tokens in, tokens out—the deflationary narrative is complete. The price has already moved. On October 20, it was about $0.0515, up roughly 41% over 30 days. Looking back over a year, it’s still down about 58%. Those stuck holding the bag still haven’t broken even. The money printer is off. What do you think—can the token price print its way back up this time?

On October 19, the head of South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service made it clear in the National Assembly: A new crypto regulatory framework is nearly complete.
The speaker was Lee Jeong-jin, at a parliamentary audit by the National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee. The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) is leading the effort, with the Financial Supervisory Service working alongside it. The goal is to build a comprehensive system for crypto regulation, rather than just addressing problems one at a time.
This isn’t the first move. On October 13, South Korea blocked the websites of 27 unregistered overseas exchanges. Last year, it cut off app downloads. This year, it went straight for the websites.
But this time, the announcement wasn’t about blocking a few more exchanges. It was about the framework itself. A draft of the second-phase Digital Asset Basic Act is in the works. The rules for issuance, trading, and custody are all set to be established at once.
At the hearing, one lawmaker spoke out bluntly. Lee Kang-il said that authority over crypto is currently scattered across four agencies: the Financial Services Commission, the Financial Supervisory Service, the FIU, and the central bank. Everyone has some oversight, but no one oversees it all. Even major domestic exchanges were called out for failing internal controls, with suspected violations turning up in large numbers.
The message is clear: The crackdown has already begun, and only now are they saying the framework is almost ready. From now on, doing crypto business in South Korea without registration means having no business at all. There’ll be no room for trying to skirt the rules.
Last week, the FIU also disclosed that 44 unregistered operators had been referred for investigation. This isn’t a bluff—it’s a crackdown closing in.
When it comes to regulatory trends in Asia, South Korea has long been the bellwether.

On October 19, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net inflows of $527 million in a single day Their biggest single-day inflow since September 22
$665 million—all from BlackRock’s IBIT buying Fidelity’s FBTC actually saw $83.6 million flow out that day Grayscale’s GBTC saw $54.9 million flow out The rest didn’t budge, with zero inflows or outflows
And the price? It briefly hit $83,155 that day Then fell back to close at $81,938, down about 0.2% on the day Today, it’s still hovering around $82,000
The first day of inflows after two straight weeks of outflows Even $527 million couldn’t break through the $83,000 wall You can judge for yourself how heavy the selling pressure is overhead
On days like this, when “the money comes in but the price doesn’t move,” Would you dare take that $527 million as a reversal signal?

Pump.fun isn’t selling shitcoins anymore—it’s selling equity now. On October 19, Pump.fun launched PreStocks. You can now trade 8 private companies directly: OpenAI, Anthropic, Anduril, Neuralink, Figure AI, Kalshi, Polymarket, and Oura. You can not only buy and sell them, but also use them as pricing units to launch new tokens. Before, you could only price your shitcoins in SOL or USDC. Now you can price your shitcoin in “OpenAI.” Sounds surreal, but the terms spell it out clearly: These tokens only provide price exposure. They’re not equity, come with no voting rights or dividends, and U.S. users are excluded. You buy nothing—but the market has already bought in. After the news broke, $PUMP surged nearly 8% at one point during the session. Today it fell back to around 0.0044, basically flat over 24 hours. The logic is easy enough to understand: a new feature means new fees, which means fuel for buybacks and burns. The official dashboard shows that about 17.2% of the fixed supply has already been burned. With nobody rushing into shitcoins anymore, the platform is now selling “things you can’t buy.” Do you think retail investors will buy into this shadow-equity business?

Up 27% in a day, INJ left its L1 peers in the dust On October 16, INJ surged to $9.35 intraday A gain of around 27% in a single day The catalyst was a meeting: on October 15, the project announced that its CEO had led a delegation to Washington to meet with people from the White House, SEC, and CFTC to discuss tokenization Meanwhile, there were concrete developments: Gulf Labs, under Thailand’s GULF Group, came on board as an institutional validator; 21Shares had amended its INJ ETF application in September, seeking a Nasdaq listing (ticker: TINJ), while Canary and REX-Osprey were also in the queue One more hard number: its revenue-to-FDV ratio is around 0.95, the highest among L1s, ahead of Solana and Arbitrum But then came a reality check: INJ gave back 6.3% on October 17 and is now around $8.55 It’s still up 19% over five days, but already up 70% over 30 days It remains 84% below its all-time high of $52.62 The meeting’s over, and half the gains have evaporated The ETF applications are still in the queue; the real money hasn’t come in yet The second half will be about the speed of filings, not photos from meetings

ZEC left its peak behind in September Down a third, yet the privacy narrative keeps getting louder
On September 27, ZEC hit around $1,697 a three-year high, according to okx.vote market data Today it’s around $1,140, down about 2% in 24 hours (finnhub data) That’s about 33% off the peak Down about 7% in a week and more than 20% over the past 30 days (midforex data)
But social media is still calling it a privacy-coin bull market On October 19, an English-speaking blogger with over 20,000 followers posted a video calling it a “5-to-10x, 4-to-5-year” no-brainer long-term hold The reasoning is simple: the less privacy the world has, the more valuable privacy coins become For what it’s worth, since its year-to-date low of $190, ZEC has already climbed nearly 6x
Market cap: about $19.4 billion, ranked 11th in the overall market (holder.io data) It’s still number one among privacy coins
The price has come back down, but the narrative hasn’t faded much Who’s buying the dip, and who’s waiting for an even lower price?

15 million people could buy PENGU overnight yesterday
Pudgy Penguins announced: PENGU is now available on SoFi Buy, sell, and hold SoFi is the first nationally chartered bank in the U.S. to offer crypto services With 15 million members, Pudgy Penguins suddenly have 15 million more potential buyers overnight
But the price didn’t get the memo Today, PENGU is around $0.0075, with a market cap of about $470 million (as of October 20) It was still hovering around $0.01 at the end of September—down more than 20% in a month Open interest has fallen from its late-September peak to about $123 million; most speculators have left
That’s when some people dug up the technical charts Analyst Ali Charts posted a TD Sequential buy signal He said that after the same signal appeared the previous two times, PENGU rose nearly 70% each time Based on that projection, the target is $0.013
The banking channel is open, and the technical indicators are flashing buy Yet the price is still stuck at $0.0075 The logic of meme coins has never changed: no matter how good the story is, it’s all for nothing if wallets don’t open up

Are more transactions always better? Tomorrow, Solana is about to take that metric down itself
The Alpenglow consensus upgrade goes live on mainnet on October 21 One of the biggest overhauls of Solana’s underlying infrastructure ever The key change: transaction finality drops from 12.8 seconds to around 150 milliseconds The old Tower BFT is being retired and replaced with the new Votor protocol The official claim: on-chain payments will feel as fast as swiping a card
The timing is pretty clever Q3 just posted its highest quarterly transaction volume ever: 8.92 billion non-vote transactions (Allium data, October 20) That’s up about 24% from Q2, and more than double last year’s Q4 Changing the engine when on-chain activity is at its hottest shows real confidence in its stability
But the upgrade has a side effect Consensus votes will no longer count as on-chain transactions Solana’s favorite metric to show off—“transaction count”—could be cut in half overnight Going forward, we’ll need a different yardstick for TPS
Off-chain capital is telling a different story On October 19, U.S. spot SOL ETFs saw net outflows of $6.72 million (SoSoValue data) Money is hesitating, while development is accelerating DeFi Development Corp added another 3,983 SOL last week It now holds around 2.59 million SOL, adding to its position right before the upgrade
The fastest chain gets even faster tomorrow The question is: will the market reward it with a higher price?

NEAR rose 10% on the day the ETF launched Three weeks later, it’s almost given all of that 10% back
Bitwise’s NEAR spot ETF (NRR) Listed on September 29, its first day, with $35.5 million in net inflows Bought approximately 7.2 million NEAR NEAR surged to $5.38 that day, up 10.2%
Today, NEAR is around $4.91 Down about 9% over the past week The price has been chopping between $4.6 and $5.4 (as of October 20)
Here’s the interesting part The ETF really did launch, and the money is still in it But retail investors were expecting: “The ETF launches, and the coin price takes off” Instead, the good news arrived, the price rose, then fell
That’s how the BTC ETF played out too The day the news becomes reality is often the short-term peak
Institutions use ETFs to build positions Retail investors use ETFs as a signal to chase a rally Same thing, two different uses

BNB Chain posted a number on X today. Its share of tokenized stocks is 42.59%, up from 35.55% a month ago. There are $1.47 billion worth of tokenized stocks on-chain. Ethereum has $730 million and Solana $490 million—a combined $1.22 billion. Still less than BNB Chain alone. The main driver is its own bStocks, which launched in June and surpassed $1 billion in AUM in four months. crypto.news added a caveat: these figures come from MSB Intel, as cited by BNB Chain, and independent third parties have yet to verify them. But the trend is clear—people and money in the RWA space are moving onto BNB Chain. BNB is around $725 today, going nowhere. The US stock market has closed, but US stocks are still trading on-chain. Traditional brokerages just can't keep up with this 24/7 model. The more popular on-chain US stocks get, the stronger BNB's RWA leg becomes.
