BlockBeats news, on December 21, the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office in New York stated that a 23-year-old Brooklyn resident has been charged with phishing fraud, stealing nearly $16 million from about 100 Coinbase users. He impersonated a Coinbase customer service representative, tricking victims into transferring assets to his personal address, and then laundered the money through a cryptocurrency mixer.

As of now, the police have recovered approximately $105,000 in cash and $400,000 worth of cryptocurrency. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong warned that they will hold the fraudsters accountable and bring them to justice.
