A trader loses 50 million dollars due to a copy-paste error of the wallet address

A crypto trader suffered a loss of 50 million dollars due to a copy-paste error of the wallet address. Before transferring the large amount, the victim only sent 50 dollars as a test to his personal address 0xbaf4b1aF...B6495F8b5.

The scammer took advantage of this opportunity and forged a wallet with the same first and last four characters of the original address, which is known as an Address Poisoning Attack. Many digital wallets hide the middle part of the address using "..." to simplify the user interface, which leads many users to only check the first and last characters when copying, and that's what the victim did.

When transferring the remaining amount of 49,999,950 USDT, the victim copied the fake address from his transaction history, and the funds were sent directly to the scammer without any possibility of recovery.
