Cash, Stablecoins, and “Cash-to-DeFi” on $XLM
One of the toughest problems in crypto is the bridge between physical cash and on-chain yield. Stellar’s ecosystem is quietly building that ladder. MoneyGram Ramps gives wallets a single API to tap cash-in/cash-out in 170+ countries.
Apps like Zypto already let users walk into a MoneyGram location, turn cash into $USDC on Stellar, or reverse it back into local currency.
Now add Soroban on top—where DeFi, savings, and lending protocols can live—and you start to see the picture: someone could go from physical cash → stable USD on $XLM → yield-bearing positions or collateralized loans, then back to cash if needed.
It’s not fully built out yet, but the primitives exist. The important mental shift: “DeFi” here isn’t about leverage games; it’s about turning global cash networks into programmable savings and credit for people who’ve never had a brokerage account.
