The Truebit protocol has reportedly suffered a major security incident that sent shockwaves across the crypto market, triggering a dramatic collapse in the price of its native token, Truebit (TRU). According to on-chain analysts and multiple blockchain monitoring platforms, the exploit may have resulted in losses exceeding $26 million worth of Ether (ETH).
In an official statement published on X (formerly Twitter), representatives of Truebit confirmed that the protocol had detected malicious activity involving one or more hostile actors. TRU Price Crashes to All-Time Low
The market reaction was swift and severe. Shortly after news of the exploit spread across social media and crypto forums, TRU experienced an unprecedented sell-off.
According to data from Nansen, the price of TRU plunged by more than 99%, falling from approximately $0.16 to an astonishing $0.0000000029, marking a new all-time low. Liquidity dried up rapidly as panic selling intensified, leaving many holders unable to exit positions without significant losses.
This sudden collapse has reignited discussions around smart contract risk, protocol transparency, and risk management in decentralized systems—especially for smaller or less frequently audited projects.
