HOT holders can now convert their tokens into HoloFuel to pay for hosting and other services in the newly launched HoloFuel Network.
Holo announced the launch on November 1. Participation is voluntary, and the operator, Net Zero FZC, requires identity verification. Its terms distinguish moving HOT into the network from actually converting it.
The first step locks HOT on Ethereum and records an equal balance of “Mirrored HOT” in the Unyt app. That balance can be bridged back to Ethereum. A separate swap converts it into HoloFuel at one-to-one during the swap window.
That second step changes the holder’s exit options. HoloFuel obtained by swapping HOT cannot be swapped back. Only HoloFuel earned by providing network services, such as hosting, qualifies for conversion into Mirrored HOT. Receiving HoloFuel from another user does not qualify either.
The launch therefore opens a way to spend HOT’s value on network services, rather than a freely reversible move of the same token between networks. The original HOT is locked, not burned; that does not make the HoloFuel swap reversible.
