Institutions are looking for new ways to earn yield without selling Bitcoin. HoneyB announced that it has completed a $500 million seed round, with Anchorage Digital participating.
The model is straightforward: institutional clients use native BTC as collateral to borrow stablecoins, then invest the funds in real-world funds targeting annual returns of around 12%, earning the spread while maintaining their Bitcoin exposure throughout. The platform supports connections to third-party custody accounts, with no need for cross-chain transfers or mandatory use of wrapped assets.
Compared with high-yield on-chain farms, this combination of “native-asset collateral + compliant custody + traditional real-world returns” is better aligned with institutional requirements for security and transparency. But what really deserves attention is not the 12% target return; it’s whether the custody arrangements, liquidation mechanisms, and quality of the underlying assets can stand the test of a market cycle.
