Day 27. Three days left.
Today I spent time reading about the
$HYPE unlock — roughly $1.2 billion worth of tokens, about 2.7% of market cap. One of the largest single unlocks this month.
But here's the part I noticed: the last HYPE unlock on September 6 was nominally around $820 million. The actual claim rate was 4.4%. Over 95% of the tokens weren't touched. Holders just didn't sell.
That changes how I think about unlocks. The nominal number - the headline figure isn't the real number. The real number is how many tokens actually move.
Three weeks ago, I would have seen "$1.2 billion unlock" and assumed selling pressure. Now I'm asking: what was the claim rate last time? Are recipients actually selling, or are they holding?
The unlock is the event. The behavior is the story. I'm still learning to read the second one.
Day 27. Still watching. Still learning.
