AKT is moving! From Cosmos to Solana—what does this move really mean?

Recently, a migration proposal from Akash Network has drawn attention. According to the latest reports, governance proposal #346 opened for voting on October 26, with early support at around 98%. The plan is to migrate AKT at a 1:1 ratio to a native Solana SPL token.

Why migrate?
Akash is a decentralized cloud computing marketplace that primarily connects GPU and computing-power providers with users who need computing resources. As AI continues to develop, the computing-power market is attracting more attention. But for a project to grow, technology alone isn’t enough—it also needs liquidity, users, and a developer ecosystem.

Solana’s strengths include fast transactions, low transaction costs, and a relatively active ecosystem. If the migration goes smoothly, AKT may find it easier to integrate into Solana’s trading and application environment.
But keep in mind: migrating the token does not mean the project’s business has already migrated, nor does it guarantee that AKT will rise in price.

According to the plan disclosed so far, the token migration and the migration of the computing-power marketplace are two separate decisions. The latter still requires further governance approval and an audit. Token holders should also follow the official migration portal, audit results, and specific timeline to avoid making mistakes.

In my view, the key question to watch is this: Are DePIN projects better off maintaining their own blockchain, or leveraging an established ecosystem to expand their user base and liquidity?
