Today, I ask back: Have you finally learned to read the contract first?

Six years ago, I was a bit unwilling to accept it. I just wanted to move coins from an exchange to my wallet, then do another Swap. Isn’t cheap, fast, and usable enough?

Today, I say: As a first time going on-chain, that’s enough. But if you’ve lived through a few cycles, it isn’t.

Over the past few years, the tech industry has gone through similar changes. At first, everyone was amazed that AI could write. Then people started asking whether it could handle an end-to-end process. Robots that used to take a couple of steps now have to go to warehouses, perform inspections, and work in production sites—dealing with dust, latency, and unexpected issues. U.S. stock investors are becoming more realistic: a polished demo can only win the opening; reliable delivery is what determines who gets to stay

Revisiting BNB Chain from this angle is the same story. BSC launched in September 2020, and what initially attracted me was indeed low cost and EVM compatibility. Later, the name changed, and the ecosystem expanded: BSC carries applications and liquidity, opBNB handles higher-frequency interactions, and Greenfield moves toward decentralized storage. Transactions have evolved from buying and swapping coins to stablecoins, perpetuals, and tokenized assets constrained by regional rules

Six years ago, I asked: So is it now capable of doing everything?

The official statistics of more than 200,000 ERC-8004 Agents refer to registered identities—not to 200,000-plus profitable, responsible traders. Pasteur, launched in August to enhance security and capacity, also doesn’t check for users’ “roguish wallets.” And Payment Lane planned for the fourth quarter addresses payment space during congestion, not a catch-all backup for every single transaction

Six years ago, I fell silent for a moment, then asked again: So what exactly has six years left us?

It leaves behind a habit. Check the network before transferring. Review approvals before interacting. Remember to exit when you’re profitable. Don’t throw blame onto the chain when you’re losing. Tools keep getting faster—and people shouldn’t let their judgment be compressed into half a second

6 years. Still shipping, still early.

That's the line that actually stuck with me from BNB Chain's anniversary post today, not the hype, just that quiet honesty.

Most chains that hit year 6 either stall out or start coasting on reputation. BNB Chain's still pushing updates, still expanding its ecosystem, still acting like day one hasn't ended yet.

That mindset is honestly rarer than people think in crypto. Everyone wants to call themselves early right up until they start behaving like they've already made it.

Six years of building through multiple cycles, multiple bear markets, and still saying we're early isn't just a slogan. It's a statement about where they think this is all actually headed.

In 2020, Binance Smart Chain (BSC) was launched, and back then, not many could imagine how far it would go.
