Liu Huan was born in Tianjin in August 1963. In July 1991, he began working at Beijing Foreign Studies University. He served as a teacher in the Arts Teaching and Research Office and later became an associate professor. He retired in September 2023. He devoted more than three decades to teaching. The (History of Western Music) course he lectured on is a classic arts-education course at the university, with no empty seats in his classes; he also composed the university anthem (UIBE Song), whose melody is sung repeatedly at major university ceremonies.
The university described him as a person who combined music education, musical composition, and singing. He was well-versed in both Chinese and Western cultures and held high moral standards as a teacher. In 2011, Liu Huan was appointed a member of the board of the university’s third session of the board of directors.
