Apple hit another new high on Friday, with its market value topping nearly $5 trillion. In the same day, Meta fell 3%. A jury in New Mexico ruled that it misled consumers in the Cambridge Analytica-related lawsuit, and the attorney general turned around and immediately vowed to pursue penalties of up to more than $200 billion.

Meta was actually the strongest performer this week. After the launch of its AI agent, Muse, daily active users reportedly jumped tenfold in half a month. Then on Friday, it was revealed that it ran into a compute bottleneck—service degradation, task failures… what a scene: the story was halfway told when it locked up on itself, and profit-taking money rushed to get out.

Meanwhile, Apple’s new high was fairly steady. Easing in the U.S.-Iran negotiations helped bring oil prices down, and semiconductors and memory rose alongside. As for whether the fine really comes through, it’ll likely rely on a series of lawsuits down the line to wear it down slowly; in the market, the sentiment that moves first is on the Muse front.
