🚨 Bitcoin just had another one-block reorg. Should traders care?
At block 966,500, AntPool and SpiderPool produced valid blocks almost at the same time. Both briefly competed, but AntPool’s chain had more accumulated proof-of-work and became the winning chain. SpiderPool’s block was orphaned.
What’s interesting is the frequency:
• Aug 16: Block 962,722
• Aug 24: Block 963,853
• Sep 11: Block 966,500
But this doesn't mean Bitcoin has a security problem or suffered a 51% attack. One-block reorgs can happen when miners find blocks nearly simultaneously and the competing blocks take time to propagate.
Three occurrences in a relatively short period are worth monitoring, though.
For traders, I'd treat this as a network event to watch, not a reason to panic.
