📰 Ethereum core developers have included EIP-8141 (Frame Transactions) in the planned Hegotá upgrade, with a target date in 2027. The most straightforward change is that, in the future, you may not need to hold ETH first in order to complete on-chain transactions.

🔥 This proposal allows one account to pay Gas on behalf of another user, and users can also complete transactions directly using stablecoins. Honestly, that “to use Ethereum, first go buy some ETH as Gas” hurdle has deterred quite a number of new users.

💡 EIP-8141 also plans to bundle operations like token approvals and transactions into a single process. Steps that previously required consecutive confirmations might be handled all at once—making wallet operations much more convenient, and potentially reducing the chances of accidentally tapping the wrong option or missing a step.

👀 Another interesting design is that an account doesn’t need to transfer assets in order to change authorization methods or adopt a post-quantum key. Given Ethereum’s plan to complete a quantum-security upgrade by 2029, developers have already started tackling account migration and key security issues ahead of time.

🤔 That said, the proposal is still a draft, and details may change before official implementation. Once it’s live, would you rather try paying Gas with stablecoins first, or switch your existing wallet to a post-quantum key?
