Stop dreaming about becoming rich overnight; in this bull market, playing with altcoins for 2 - 3 times the return is quite good.
When I first entered the crypto space, I was just like most people, naively thinking that holding onto spot assets would lead to wealth, fantasizing that 'in a bull market, just pick any altcoin, and easily achieve ten or a hundred times returns.'
But after several cycles of bull and bear markets, I learned that the market loves to teach harsh lessons.
Look at Bitcoin; each rally's growth rate is actually declining. The peak in 2017 was 19,000, falling to 3,000 before rebounding; in 2021, it peaked at 69,000, which is just a little over three times from the previous high.
This bear market's low point is 15,000, and the market generally expects 130,000 - 150,000. From the low point, ten times seems feasible, but from the previous high, it's barely over two times.
The evidence is clearer with altcoins. In 2017, there were many hundred times coins; in 2021, there were mostly ten times coins. This round of excellent projects might achieve ten times, but most altcoins top out at 2 - 3 times.
Yet most people hold onto low-quality coins that hardly reach even three times.
So I always remind: don’t hold onto spot assets stubbornly, or while others make profits and exit, you’ll just be on a roller coaster; don’t fantasize about becoming rich through altcoins, securing 2 - 3 times is already a good achievement in this bull market.
The most terrifying thing in the crypto space is not the decline, but greed. In the later stages of a bull market, there are always people shouting that Bitcoin will reach 200,000 or 300,000, and that altcoins will increase by 100 times, resulting in one round after another of being stuck.
Smart people remain calm amidst the frenzy and take profits during the celebrations. Bull markets are limited; securing profits is the wise choice.
If you want to exit completely, remember: don’t hold onto spot assets stubbornly, don’t fantasize about altcoins, and be content with 2 - 3 times.
