#USNonFarmPayrollReport $ETH $50 million in USDT disappeared without a trace after a single copy/paste mistake occurred by this trader. I am going to talk about an incident that was very unfortunate for this trader, but also serves as an example to others who may be in the same situation.
Earlier today, in Shenzhen, an account holder lost a total of 50 million USDT in under ten hours. It happened in a split second. I want to walk you through the sequence of events so that you do not repeat the mistakes of this trader.
To start with, the trader sent 50 USDT to an address that they intended to send to. It was the correct address and everything was working properly. However, the situation took a turn for the worse.
Immediately after sending the 50 USDT, a scammer sent a fake address to the trader in the form of an online transaction. This address was very similar to the trader's intended recipient address with only the first three and the last three letters being the same. In addition, the scammer also sent the trader a small amount of USDT (0.005), as a "bait."
The trailer picked up on the deception and thought that because the scammer sent to him a small amount of USDT and it had the same first three and the last three digits as his intended recipient, that it was a previous transaction. Not taking the time to check closely, he copied the fake address from the recent transaction history and pasted it in his transfer.
