WHY MARKETS GOT CHOPPY THIS WEEK This weekās volatility didnāt come out of nowhere. Markets are reacting to expectations that the Bank of Japan is moving away from ultra-loose policy, and thatās a short-term headwind for Bitcoin. Weāve seen this movie before. š Jan 24, 2025 ā BoJ raised rates from 0.25% ā 0.50% -- what happened next? - BTC moved to exchanges (positioning for risk) - Funding rates dropped (leverage flushed) - Price dipped ā but did NOT break long-term structure Fast forward to now š the same setup is playing out: - Yen strength = carry trades unwind - Leverage comes off - Short-term volatility spikes This is positioning and not panic. The last BoJ hike was largely priced in and Bitcoin stabilized once leverage reset. Thatās why weāre watching this, macro isnāt bearish here, itās explaining the noise.
