The Linux Foundation has announced the birth of the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), a new initiative supported by Block (Jack Dorsey's company), Anthropic, and OpenAI.

The goal is to create a neutral and open source reference point in the development of autonomous AI agents, capable of acting, using tools, and making decisions independently.

The crucial point is the direction this technology will take: will it be an open and interoperable ecosystem, or will it end up locked inside the usual walled gardens controlled by tech giants?

The AAIF will coordinate key projects such as MCP, Goose, and AGENTSmd, set common standards for interoperability, fund conferences, and promote collaborative and transparent development of this new generation of intelligent software.

Among the founding members at the Platinum level are names like Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft, Bloomberg, and Cloudflare — a clear signal that the entire sector recognizes the significance of this change.

Without an open and shared approach, the risks are evident: slowed innovation, limited adoption, obstacles for small research teams, and less scientific progress.

The goal of the AAIF is to avoid this fragmentation, laying the groundwork for a future where agentic artificial intelligence becomes a collective good, developed in an ethical, transparent, and interoperable manner.
