Dominance falls while ETH rises steadily → market accepting healthy risk

Altcoins perform better when BTC dominates less. Not the other way around.

In DeFi, you can provide liquidity to a pool (e.g., SUI/USDT, DOGE/ETH) and earn fees, but there is Impermanent Loss: temporary loss when the price of the tokens in the pool moves a lot.

🧠 Key concept: it is not a “hack” or “scam,” it’s mathematics of the pool.

Examples 2 years:

Pool ETH/USDT in 2024: ETH rises 90% in months → you earned fees, but you would have earned more by holding ETH (IL due to directional movement)

Pool DOGE/ETH in 2023: DOGE rises 150%, ETH 60% → the pool rebalances → IL if you don't withdraw at the right moment

Pool BTC/ETH 2024–25: BTC dominates +80%, ETH +40% → moderate IL, fees compensate only if there is real volume

📘 Crypto for beginners: not all chains do the same

Layer 1 = base of the network (BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, SUI, etc.)

Layer 2 = built on top to scale (e.g.: Arbitrum on ETH)

✔ Layer 1 sets the market pulse

✔ Layer 2 amplifies narrative and use, but depends on its Layer 1

Examples from 2 years:

ETH rises due to adoption + staking + upgrades → ✔ strength of Layer 1

ARB follows the ETH cycle, but if ETH falls sharply, ARB usually falls more → normal in L2

SOL is a fast Layer 1, but had drawdowns of 50%+ in 2023 → then recovered in 2024/25 with the ecosystem growing
