Zcash (ZEC) began 2025 trading quietly and well below its past highs. Over the year, it moved into the top group of Layer 1 coins by performance.
Momentum began to build slowly as shielded transactions increased and upgrades rolled out without major issues.
The real move came in the second half of the year. The ZEC price broke out aggressively and rallied into November, reaching around $744 on November 7.
That move pushed Zcash to the top of performance charts and marked a clear shift in market perception. Privacy coins were no longer just defensive plays – they became growth assets again.
After the peak, a sharp correction followed. By late December, the Zcash price pulled back into the $430–$450 range, with heavy swings along the way. Despite the drop, price stayed well above early-year levels. The pullback looked more like cooling off than a full trend reversal.
What Could Affect Zcash Price in 2026
One of the biggest drivers for 2026 is shielded DeFi adoption. Zcash is moving beyond simple private payments and into private swaps and smart contract activity.
The planned integration with NEAR’s Intents framework would allow users to swap BTC, ETH, and stablecoins privately inside the Zashi wallet. If this works smoothly, it could bring new users who want privacy without complexity.
Another major factor is Ztarknet, Zcash’s Layer 2 for private smart contracts. Testnet is scheduled for 2025, followed by the expected devnet in early 2026.
The significance of this is that it provides Zcash with programmatic privacy and not simply privacy transfers. If developers actually build on it, ZEC becomes part of the broader DeFi conversation again.

Market behavior will also play a role. Whale accumulation increased toward the end of 2025, while derivatives traders stayed net short.
That split can lead to fast moves if sentiment shifts. On the risk side, regulatory matters are still a wild card. Zcash’s optional transparency solution may shield it from severe regulatory treatment, but privacy tech remains in regulatory limbo.
Zcash Price Prediction for 2026
Bearish scenario
In a weak scenario, regulatory pressure increases and shielded DeFi adoption remains slow. If global markets stay cautious and liquidity dries up, ZEC could revisit lower support zones. Price could settle well below its 2025 highs as traders focus on safer assets.
In this case, the ZEC price could trade in the $250–$300 range for much of 2026. This is still above early 2025 but nowhere near its peak. Thus, 100 ZEC for $25,000-$30,000.
Neutral scenario
In a neutral outcome, Zcash continues to improve but without major hype. Shielded usage grows steadily, Ztarknet launches without delays, and privacy adoption expands slowly.The price action will also become stable.
ZEC might move in the bracket of $450-$600, provided that the demand for ZEC continues to be stable. At this level, 100 ZEC will be equivalent to $45,000-$60,000.
Bullish scenario
In a strong scenario, private DeFi gains real traction and Ztarknet attracts builders and capital. Institutions begin using the shielded functionality for privacy compliance reasons and the relevance and importance that the privacy infrastructure brings to ZEC. Liquidity increases and the market turns strongly bullish.
ZEC may return towards its high of 2025 or go further up. Depending on the trend, if it maintains its positive pace, a range of $800 to $1,000 can be expected. This will make 100 ZEC tokens worth $80,000 to $100,000.
However, Zcash (ZEC) could start off 2026 in a much better condition than it has been in for a few years. The network is no longer just a privacy payment coin. It is positioning itself as private infrastructure for DeFi and smart contracts.
What 100 ZEC will be worth, of course, will be less about the buzz and more about what happens with adoption, regulation, and time. The potential here is obvious, but so are the risks. The major shift here is that, compared to before 2025, at least there is a clearer way for the future of Zcash.
