The Arbitrum Security Council has taken emergency action to freeze 30,766 ETH held at an address on Arbitrum One related to the KelpDAO exploitation. The Security Council acted based on input from law enforcement regarding the identity of the exploiters and, throughout the time, considered its commitment to the security and integrity of the Arbitrum community without impacting any users or Arbitrum applications.
After conducting technical due diligence and thorough consideration, the Security Council identified and implemented a technical approach to move the funds to a secure location without affecting the status of other chains or Arbitrum users.
As of April 20 at 23:26 ET, the funds have been successfully transferred to a frozen intermediary wallet. The funds can no longer be accessed by the address that originally held them and can only be moved through further actions by Arbitrum governance, which will be coordinated with relevant parties.
