Chainalysis, a blockchain analytics company used by security agencies and the global crypto industry, confirmed that a cyberattack exposed data belonging to all its users, including password hashes and active authentication tokens.
Chainalysis issued an initial incident notice on October 30. At the time, the company said it had found no evidence that authentication credentials or session tokens had been accessed.
A subsequently published update reversed that assessment: the company acknowledged that the names, usernames, password hashes, and valid tokens of all users had been exposed to a malicious actor.
In addition, Chainalysis indicated that some accounts of the Know Your Transaction (KYT) service were apparently accessed during the attack.
