Three men were sentenced to up to six years in prison after breaking into a Bristol home on May 15, assaulting a resident and demanding cryptocurrency. According to Odaily, the victim suffered a head injury and received hospital treatment, while the attackers left without obtaining any crypto.
Terroll Paul, Mohamed Samagassi and Pierre Madzou each admitted aggravated burglary and were sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on October 15. Paul received a six-year sentence, Madzou was sentenced to five and a half years, and Samagassi received five years. The victim’s underage sister called police, who arrested the men at the scene.
Police did not disclose how much cryptocurrency the men demanded. The case is an example of a “wrench attack,” in which criminals use violence or threats to force crypto holders to hand over digital assets. CertiK data showed such attacks caused $124 million in global losses in the first half of 2026, a 12-fold increase from the same period a year earlier.
