AGT made a pretty decisive move this time.
It jumped 4.77% in 15m, with volume at 1.53x, and the closing price broke above the top of the range formed by the last 20 5m candles. Net aggressive flow was +20.5%, and the buy/sell ratio was 1.51—that’s real buying pressure, not just a false impression created by resting orders.
But there’s one detail I watched for a while: OI was down 0.32% over 15m.
When price rises and OI falls, I’m more inclined to read that as shorts covering rather than new longs entering. In other words, part of this move was shorts being squeezed into closing, not fresh positions chasing the rally. The upside is that selling pressure is relatively light; the downside is that once the covering is over, the rally will need to find new fuel.
OI is up 0.28% over 1h, though, with notional up 894K, which suggests positions are still gradually building over a longer timeframe. Its change in notional across the full pool ranks #18, with an anomaly percentile of 76.2%, and 24h trading volume is 451M—the activity and liquidity are both there. This isn’t some tiny pool getting a random wick.
What I’m watching now is whether price can hold above the range after the breakout. If it can consolidate there and OI starts to recover, that’s a different story. But if volume dries up and price slips back into the range, then tonight was just a short-covering spike—nothing to read too much into.
I’ll keep watching for now. No rush to draw conclusions.
