👀 U.S. stocks, gold, forex—big players can now trade “perpetuals” on-chain 24/7
Ripple announced yesterday (10/15): Ripple Prime has launched RWA perpetual swaps, giving institutional clients direct access to trade
Covers 100+ underlying markets: stocks, indices, ETFs, metals, energy, and forex—with trading and settlement available 24 hours a day, including weekends
In plain English: U.S. markets used to close and leave you stuck watching from the sidelines. Now market makers can keep betting on Apple, gold, and more on-chain
📌 A few key details:
1️⃣ Ripple Prime is the sole counterparty—institutions don’t need to interact with the blockchain directly, making it compliance-friendly
2️⃣ Top global market maker Virtu is already using it—effectively backing its liquidity
3️⃣ Cross-asset margin + RLUSD as collateral—maximizing capital efficiency
4️⃣ Underlying exposure is linked to perpetual contracts on Trade.xyz on Hyperliquid—$HYPE just got another wave of institutional flows (at the time of writing: $81.68, +3.21%)
The bigger picture: RWA perpetuals have gone from niche to around $9 billion in open interest across platforms in a year (according to Bloomberg); last year, Ripple Prime spent $1.25 billion to acquire Hidden Road and transform into an institutional brokerage
At the time of writing: $XRP $1.3407 (+2.69%, live TradingView reading from Coinbase)
A quick risk note: It currently operates only under a BVI license and isn’t available in the U.S. yet. We’ll have to see how the regulatory landscape develops
Who do you think will be next to bring U.S. stocks on-chain and keep them trading 24/7? Let’s discuss in the comments
