XMR Wallet Proofs Proposed Improvement | Still a Draft, Not Live | Wait for Confirmation Around $537

My view is to watch, not to treat a wallet command-line change as a new bullish catalyst. On October 12, Monero’s official code repository saw Draft PR #11535, which proposes allowing the proof command in monero-wallet-cli to accept challenge messages containing multiple words and spaces. The current interactive command splits arguments at spaces, so users can easily have a complete sentence intended as a proof message rejected. The proposal joins the remaining arguments back together and covers six commands related to generating and verifying proofs. It is currently marked Draft and Open, has not been merged, and does not mean it has made it into an official wallet release. The local build and regression tests listed by the author are the submitter’s testing notes, not formal release acceptance.

This is worth paying attention to, but its impact should be kept in perspective: a challenge message in a transaction proof lets both parties bind an agreed piece of text to a specific proof, reducing the operational friction of using the wrong proof or encountering communication ambiguity. Smoother command-line input could improve verification for merchants or over-the-counter settlements, but it does not change XMR’s issuance, privacy mechanisms, or on-chain demand. Recipients must still check the address, amount, number of confirmations, and counterparty’s identity themselves; a screenshot or a claim that “payment has been made” is no substitute for valid verification. In my view, interpreting a wallet usability PR as a direct reason the coin must rise is an overreach.

How has the market reacted so far? When I checked XMR/USD on Kraken, the latest price was around $537.48, versus a daily open of about $536.99, with an intraday high and low of roughly $544.79 and $527.91. The price is slightly above the open, but still in the middle of the day’s range, and this cannot be attributed to the PR; weekend liquidity and broader market movements may be more significant drivers. First, watch whether the price can hold firmly above $545; below, watch whether $528 holds. If $528 breaks and a retest fails to reclaim it, the short-term bullish view is invalidated. If the PR is closed or remains a draft for a long time, the fundamental narrative should also be withdrawn—we should not describe it in advance as a product upgrade that has already shipped.

If I were trading this myself, I wouldn’t chase the price here. I’d only consider a small long position in spot, with low or no leverage. The entry trigger would be a move above $545 followed by a pullback that holds, while BTC avoids a simultaneous sharp drop. I’d keep the position for any single trade to no more than 2% of total capital, rather than using a development draft as a reason to take a large position. I’d take half off near the first target of $555, then reduce further near the second target of $565. If the price falls back to $538 after entry and cannot quickly recover, I’d proactively cut the position; the hard stop would be below $527. If the breakout fails, volume is insufficient, or a new security risk emerges, I’d close the entire remaining position. If these conditions do not arise, I’ll stay out of the market rather than present watching as a trade.
