THORChain's TRON route went dark for about two hours this week, and no hacker was involved.
Per CryptoSlate, Tether blocklisted four of THORChain's six TRON vaults, about 1.45 million USDT in total. TRON swaps paused, about $363,000 in payouts queued up, and the addresses later appeared to be unfrozen.
My view: $RUNE holders should see this as a design limit, not a one-off. A protocol can spread control across nodes, but it cannot decentralize an asset whose issuer holds a freeze key.
