Job Data Issued Today Dashed Hopes of Raising the Latest Wage Rate.

Today, the unemployment rate in the United States rose to 4.2%, its highest level since June 2026.

At the same time, the U.S. economy added only 29,000 jobs, while expectations pointed to 90,000 jobs.

Last month, the U.S. economy added 162,000 jobs, meaning the labor market is weakening at a rapid pace.

This week’s personal consumption expenditures index data came in below expectations. Now that the labor market is under pressure, the Federal Reserve will not make the mistake of raising interest rates.
