$BTC The Federal Reserve raises the rate to 4% for the first time in years!
A new shock in the market
Today, the Federal Reserve decided to raise interest rates by 25 basis points, settling in a range between 3.75% and 4.00%. This is the first increase we’ve seen in 3 years, and it was somewhat expected. The dot plot suggests the possibility of at least one additional hike during 2026, and based on that, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley adjusted their interest-rate forecasts upward.
Bleeding in the crypto market
Bitcoin’s ETF funds saw massive outflows totaling nearly $450 million in a single session. Not to mention that stocks tied to the sector such as (Coinbase, Circle, Robinhood) took a hit and fell between 4% and 7%. But despite all this pressure, Bitcoin managed to hold steady and keep its level near $76,000.
Tensions and policy
On the other hand, Trump is calling publicly for rate cuts to 1% or even lower, which has increased tensions between him and Kevin Warsh, the Federal Reserve chair.
