France captain Kylian Mbappé responded on Monday to racist remarks from Paraguayan senator Céleste Amarilla that followed Les Bleus’ 1-0 victory on Saturday in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16, according to Yahoo Sports. Mbappé scored the match’s only goal on a 70th-minute penalty kick, and the French Football Federation said it is filing a report with the prosecutor’s office seeking judicial action over Amarilla’s comments.
France will next face Morocco in the World Cup quarterfinals on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
