Tether and Circle follow distinct paths in freezing addresses
According to data released by ChainCatcher based on a report from AMLBot, between 2023 and 2025, Tether blocked 7,268 addresses, involving approximately $3.29 billion in USDT. More than half of this amount — about 53% was concentrated on the Tron blockchain.
In contrast, Circle had a much more limited action during the same period. The company froze only 372 addresses, totaling around $109 million in USDC, which highlights a significant difference in scale: Tether's actions were about 30 times higher than Circle's.
