CZ: Hyperliquid claims decentralization but small team retains high control

On June 18, 2026, Binance founder CZ stated during an interview on the Galaxy channel that the decentralized derivatives platform Hyperliquid has validated a new market niche and shown impressive technical innovation, successfully occupying a no-KYC space that Binance cannot compete in. 

CZ mentioned that Hyperliquid founder Jeff participated in one of the earliest YZi Labs incubation seasons. However, CZ believes the platform is actually heavily controlled by a small team and prefers not to judge their "decentralized" claims. Discussing the historical risks of the no-KYC model, CZ expressed that given his own life experiences, he would never do what they do, but he assumes they are fully capable of handling their own affairs.
