#BNBChain 🚀 BNB Network Gets a Major Update: Osaka/Mendel Hard Fork on April 28!
The BNB Chain Network is reaching a new level of stability and performance. The developers have officially announced the date of the Osaka/Mendel hard fork on the BSC mainnet — April 28 at 05:30 Kyiv time.
🛠 What Node Operators Need to Know?
If you are running a node, this update is mandatory. To stay in sync with the network, you must:
• Update to BSC v1.7.2.
• Configure binary swapping.
• Clean up outdated configuration fields.
🔍 Key changes and innovations:
The Mendel update includes 9 improvements (BEPs) that bring the BSC architecture closer to the latest Ethereum standards, but taking into account the specifics of the BNB Chain:
• 🛡 BEP-652 (Protocol Gas Limit): A hard gas limit is introduced at the protocol level — 16,777,216 per transaction. This will replace the “soft” limit and force all nodes to equally refuse heavy transactions, which will significantly increase the stability of the network.
• ⚡️ BEP-648: Aims to reduce latency (latency) and speed up transaction finalization.
• 📦 BEP-657: Sets rules for including blob transactions depending on the block number.
• 🤝 Synchronization with Ethereum: BSC integrates 7 of the 13 proposals (EIPs) with Ethereum’s Fusaka package, adapting them to your needs.
📈 What does this mean for users?
After successful testing on the testnet (which has been ongoing since March 24), the mainnet is expected to become:
1. More reliable in building blocks.
2. Faster in processing large numbers of transactions.
3. Stable during peak loads.
The countdown is on - 16 days until launch! ⏳
