BlockBeats News, December 6th. An article in Caixin titled "Building a Strong Firewall for Virtual Currency to Protect the Public's 'Wallet'" revealed that in 2024, Chinese authorities prosecuted 3,032 individuals involved in money laundering crimes such as using "virtual currency" to transfer criminal proceeds. Some of these individuals lacked legal awareness and were unwittingly involved in these crimes. An analysis of 283 court judgments in money laundering cases involving virtual currency found that criminal groups extensively used marginalized youth with low socioeconomic status as tools for crime, with significant regional clustering and a majority having only a middle or high school education.
