Cinque wallet rimasti inattivi per oltre 11 anni hanno trasferito ieri 107 BTC a un burn address, eliminando in modo permanente circa 8,3 milioni di dollari di Bitcoin dalla circolazione.
L’operazione è stata segnalata come una delle più insolite e drastiche mai viste on-chain, perché quei fondi non possono più essere recuperati.
L’indirizzo di destinazione, 1111111111111111111114oLvT2, è noto come burn address: non ha una chiave privata spendibile, quindi qualsiasi BTC inviato lì diventa di fatto irrecuperabile. Secondo più fonti, questo indirizzo riceve fondi da anni e oggi contiene oltre 807 BTC, accumulati in migliaia di transazioni.
Il punto davvero interessante è il contesto: i Bitcoin arrivavano da cinque wallet dormienti da più di un decennio, dettaglio che fa pensare a un gesto intenzionale più che a un errore casuale.
Adam Back ha definito l’episodio una “quantum bounty accidentale”, mentre altri analisti parlano apertamente di burning deliberato o di una scelta simbolica ancora senza spiegazione pubblica.
