Americans prefer to receive cryptocurrency over gift cards

A survey of more than 2,000 adults in the United States has found a surprising shift in holiday gift preferences: Cryptocurrencies are becoming more popular than traditional gift cards. According to the survey results, 31% of respondents consider digital assets to be more useful because they are less likely to go unused. In addition, 23% of survey participants expressed their willingness to pay for purchases using cryptocurrency, a number that now reaches 62% among digital coin holders.

In the study, conducted by the NCA in collaboration with PayPal, participants highlighted the main advantages of giving cryptocurrency as a gift: the potential for appreciation (58%), the ability to choose the most favorable moments for spending (54%), and the convenience of saving (49%). However, the technical complexity remains a barrier for 38% of Americans, who admitted that they do not fully understand this payment process. The data showed a clear generational divide: 41% of people aged 18 to 54 are willing to give otp t receive cryptocurrency as a gift, while only 9% of older people are willing to give or receive it.

Amid growing interest in digital assets, Russian marketplace Wildberry has begun testing the acceptance of cryptocurrency payments in Belarus. The pilot project has been launched for residents of the Minsk Hi-Tech Park - a special economic zone where such transactions are legally permitted.
