**A Random Trader Tricked Grok Out of $175K… Then Returned It All**
Recently, an X user with a now-deleted account managed to trick Grok using a clever prompt injection. He posted something that looked completely harmless, but it contained a hidden message written in Morse code.
Grok, trying to be helpful, translated the Morse code and replied publicly — which included tagging a bot called @bankrbot. That reply was treated as a legitimate command, and the bot executed it, sending out roughly $175,000 worth of tokens from Grok’s wallet.
The attacker quickly swapped the tokens into USDC across different wallets. But here’s the surprising part: not long after, the same person sent the entire amount back to Grok’s wallet — this time in ETH and USDC.
In the end, no money was lost, but it highlighted a real vulnerability in how these AI systems and connected bots can be manipulated.
It’s a wild story. Do you still believe AI is ready to fully replace humans anytime soon?
